It can be said that the concept of Games in general and Esports in particular has gone through a long journey from the moment it first appeared until its current development. Throughout this period, games and Esports have often been referred to as electronic games and have always been a topic that receives much prejudice and judgment from society. Over time, these prejudices have gradually changed, but there are still conflicting opinions surrounding them.

SEA Games 31 and a New Perspective on Esports

For many parents, when mentioning Games or Esports, the first thought is “worthless forms of entertainment.” Even for the parents of talented Esports players, they cannot deny having experienced feelings of anxiety and confusion when their children shared their passion for becoming professional Esports players.

In 2022, the Esports community received good news when Esports was included in the official medal competition content at the SEA Games 31 held in Vietnam. This is a significant step forward for the Vietnamese Esports scene and helps Esports in particular and Games in general connect with the majority of the population. At the same time, people also gain a fuller perspective on playing games and competing in professional Esports.

Concerns About the Future of Esports Still Persist

However, jobs related to Games or professional Esports still face many societal obstacles. Long-standing prejudices are the main factors causing many people to still have a subjective view and fail to positively evaluate the value that Esports brings. Even in Vietnam, professional Esports players are still not considered a profession, despite the fact that Vietnamese Esports has made significant contributions to the gold medals won by the Vietnamese sports delegation at the recent SEA Games 31.

Moreover, most Vietnamese Esports players, and players worldwide, have to start training at a very young age, which leads to many players lacking basic skills as well as future direction. This situation makes many families worried when they hear their children share their dreams of becoming professional Esports players. Because no one has figured out how these players will continue their normal lives after their careers end.

The Mission to Eliminate Social Prejudice Against Esports with the “Student Champion Festival”

Understanding the barriers and wanting to prove themselves, Samsung has brought the Awesome Academy. This can be considered one of the best professional player training programs in Vietnam today. Participants in the program are young individuals passionate about becoming professional Esports players. Not only focusing on gaming skills, Awesome Academy also provides and enhances the necessary knowledge for participants to have a clear future direction.

One Shot Killer – the champion team of Awesome Academy shared: “Awesome Academy is viewed as the first platform in Vietnam co-organized by Samsung Galaxy A Series to recognize and honor the arduous journey to becoming champions for Vietnamese players. Additionally, Awesome Academy is not just a playground or a community, but also a home that supports and serves as a launchpad for future players who dare to persevere and pursue their dreams.”

Continuing the mission that Awesome Academy has brought, Samsung continues to organize the “Student Champion Festival” – an event aimed at creating a playground, encouraging talented young gamers to compete, learn, and gain motivation on their path to becoming professional players. Right from the name, it is evident that Samsung has directed its activities towards the core demographic of society today: students – the talented youth who will lead the country in the future.

The Student Champion Festival also contributes to changing the negative perceptions of society that playing games or becoming a professional Esports player is a waste of time and an uncertain future… Not simply a competition event for players, but here, young individuals have the opportunity to open up and orient clear, professional development paths for the future.

Furthermore, in this event, the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G will be a reliable companion that helps young individuals confidently “battle” in any Esports discipline. Through the Student Champion Festival, Samsung not only contributes to the professionalization of the Vietnamese Esport community but also demonstrates its vision and efforts to convey the message of “Brilliant Originality”, encouraging young people to dare to think, act, and persist with their passions.

Conclusion

Esports in particular and Games in general are increasingly proving their value and influence on many aspects of society. With the efforts of Samsung and the gaming community, we can confidently say that one day, professional Esports players will be a legitimate profession and receive acceptance from many people.
