In recent seasons, Riot has often paired the release of new champions with reworks/remodels of older champions. Additionally, it is important to mention the adjustments made to existing bugs and the emergence of new bugs within League of Legends. However, sometimes this process does not proceed as planned, due to the impact of the pandemic or other external factors.

However, in a recent announcement regarding the roadmap for new champions, Riot has made the League of Legends community extremely excited. According to Riot, three new champions will be introduced in 2022, including: one champion from the Void that has been “hinted” before, one marksman with abilities possibly related to water, and one tank from the land of Shurima. Unlike Renekton or Nasus, this new tank champion from Shurima will require high skill.

However, alongside the new champions, the community is quite interested in Riot’s plans to rework/remodel older champions, specifically in the case of Udyr. Some time ago, Riot revealed some images of Udyr being remade, but as of now, the League of Legends community still does not know exactly when these new images of the champion will appear on Summoner’s Rift. In Riot’s announcement about the champion release roadmap, it seems likely that the new Udyr will launch soon. Riot stated that the design process is complete and that they are currently working on adjusting the skins.

In addition to Udyr, Skarner has also been announced for a rework, and Riot may even give this champion a new lore. However, the most noteworthy champion on this list is Aurelion Sol. Despite being the Star Dragon of League of Legends, Aurelion Sol can be said to have one of the most unfortunate fates. In fact, if he did not appear in Teamfight Tactics, not many players would even notice Aurelion Sol’s presence in League of Legends.

The reason for this is that Aurelion Sol’s skill set is not suited for the current meta and does not fit well in regular matches. Even players who really enjoy playing Aurelion Sol must admit that this champion is too ineffective. Therefore, when Aurelion Sol was included in this list, many League of Legends fans were very pleased.

If in the future, Aurelion Sol can be reworked effectively like Urgot, Sion, or Dr. Mundo, it is very likely that this champion will reappear in League of Legends after a long time in obscurity. However, if not, Aurelion Sol may once again fall into the “stepchild of Riot” status as he has been for so long.
