After a series of relatively easy group matches, on September 27 (Vietnam time), the players of the Korean League of Legends (LoL) team entered the Quarterfinals against a not too difficult opponent – Saudi Arabia. The team from the Middle East also had no tournaments in the LoL scene, and all spectators understood that Korean LoL would win. What fans cared about was whether the performance of the Korean players was enough to “heat up” for the Semifinal match against their “arch-rivals” China.

However, right in the match against Saudi Arabia, perhaps the players from the land of kimchi were too relaxed and overly excited after easy wins in the group stage, combined with an opponent who had no way to resist, so they played a bit too… “enthusiastically”. Specifically, after Faker’s “comedic act” in the group stage, it was Kanavi’s turn to lose Baron. But perhaps, JD Gaming’s (JDG) jungler had nothing to worry about. Because right after that, his teammate from the Korean team and JDG, Ruler, made an even more memorable “comedic act”.

Accordingly, in a situation that was not too dangerous at the beginning of the game, Ruler, in a moment when he had not too much health left, used the champion Xayah to dive in, intending to solo kill an opponent from the Saudi Arabia team. However, the situation that the MSI 2023 champion did not expect was that his health was too low, and the enemy’s Zeri only needed one Q ability to… send Ruler to the death counter.
Indeed, this was an “awkward situation” for the former Gen.G star. Because, in terms of skill and reputation, the players from the Saudi Arabia team could not compare to Ruler, if not to say they were somewhat… unknown. After that, Ruler also played more carefully and did not make any more mistakes throughout the rest of the match. Of course, that kill did not cause the advantage of Ruler or Korean LoL to slip away to the opponent.

It can be said that the spirit of the Korean LoL team members is very good. However, facing many weak opponents may create a complacent mentality. The superstars from the land of kimchi need to get back to earth immediately, especially when their arch-rival China is ahead in the Semifinal match.
