In recent days, alongside the intense matches of MSI 2024, the VCS community has also been drawn in by the drama surrounding the controversial remarks made by commentator Văn Tùng during a co-stream of the match between Gen.G and Bilibili Gaming. Specifically, the prominent VCS commentator made an implicit comparison between Canyon and Peanut. This inadvertently caused some Peanut fans in Vietnam to feel outraged, leading to a heated “verbal sparring” that ignited debates within the VCS community. Afterward, commentator Văn Tùng posted an apology, but in reality, the back-and-forth disputes show no signs of cooling down.

However, amidst the debate surrounding the skill levels of the two players from LCK, many viewers have scrutinized and discovered that Peanut is actually one of the most inconsistent players in LCK. During his lowest moments, he can also reach the depths of disappointment. Specifically, although he is one of the two LCK junglers ever to achieve MSI (along with Blank), Peanut’s international achievements shine solely due to that championship with SKT T1. The rest consists of a series of matches that are truly forgettable in his career.

Accordingly, Peanut is the LCK player with the most losses against wildcard teams in the history of League of Legends in South Korea. Specifically, Peanut has fought under many banners, including ROX Tigers, SKT T1, Kingzone DragonX, Longzhu Gaming, LGD Gaming… Among these teams, Peanut has experienced at least one defeat against wildcard teams. Specifically, he lost to Albus NoX Luna (CIS – 1 match), Flash Wolves (LMS – 2 matches), and PSG Talon (PCS), Rainbow7 (LAT), and Unicorns of Love (CIS), one match each. At that time, these matches were all in a BO1 format. Most of Peanut’s losses against wildcard or minor region teams occurred while he was wearing the LGD jersey.

It can be said that Peanut has had moments where he outperformed Canyon and vice versa. However, it is clear that the MSI championship with SKT T1 is not enough to reveal the truth that Peanut has had moments of being quite “timid” on the international stage, despite being one of the veteran junglers of LCK and the world.

At MSI 2024, Canyon will replace Peanut along with Chovy and his teammates, striving for the championship. However, the excessive reactions of some Peanut fans, as well as the League of Legends community in Vietnam, are overshadowing many noteworthy aspects surrounding the tournament, causing viewers and many unrelated individuals to be dragged into an endless cycle of debates.
