After a Few Months, Riot’s Quick Match Mode Faces Harsh Criticism from the League of Legends Community

Riot Games' Quick Match mode seems to have not received high praise from League of Legends players.

Since version 13.21, Riot Games has officially removed Blind Pick and replaced it with Quick Match in League of Legends. This change was said by Riot to enhance the experience for League of Legends players by reducing team composition selection time and quickly entering matches. Players also no longer have to deal with the competition for positions and champions with Quick Match.

However, after about 2 months of implementation, Quick Match has faced strong opposition from League of Legends players. This stems from the numerous issues this mode presents, including balance problems between positions and excessively long matchmaking times, leading to a rather poor gaming experience. Therefore, compared to the familiar previous mode, Blind Pick, Quick Match seems to fall short significantly in terms of experience.

Furthermore, the interface of the Quick Match mode has recently been harshly criticized by players as being extremely poor. It has too many limitations that affect players’ choices and has caused the community to feel quite annoyed.

“The champion selection interface in Quick Match is truly terrible. It has too many restrictions that impact the user experience. First is the automatic rune selection system that doesn’t have any notifications. The process of saving runes is not clear and can easily confuse players. The system sometimes forces me to use Smite even though I’m not playing Jungle. Additionally, the process of selecting skins and runes is overly complicated and needs improvement,” a frustrated player shared.

Essentially, runes are a crucial part of gameplay for League of Legends champions. Allowing players to have full control over which runes they will use is necessary. However, Riot completely removed any notifications about saving or automatically editing runes in Quick Match mode. Therefore, this is a significant drawback that leaves many League of Legends players feeling uncomfortable.

Of course, the Quick Match mode has only been out for about 2 months and has many shortcomings. What Riot Games needs to do is likely to upgrade the interface and optimize the features of Quick Match in the near future. If not, the call from players to remove this mode entirely may very well happen.
