One of the notable matchups in the opening round of the MSI 2023 group stage was the clash between MAD Lions and T1. The LCK representatives convincingly defeated the reigning LEC Spring 2023 champions. The third game even became the second shortest in MSI history.

However, it is undeniable that MAD also managed to give T1 a hard time at the start of the first game. With proactive plays from champions like Pyke and Lee Sin, MAD had a good start. The only issue was that T1 was too experienced and did not get drawn into MAD’s playstyle. Faker and his teammates gradually regained control before demolishing the “Lions” in skirmishes during the mid and late game.

One of the standout players from MAD, who had the biggest impact on LEC’s playstyle, Hylissang, shared his thoughts on the match. The veteran support was obviously not satisfied with his and his teammates’ performance. However, he also acknowledged that T1 was indeed “outclassing” MAD. Notably, Hylissang commented on the strength of Gen.G and T1 – two LCK representatives who have defeated two LEC teams in recent matches.
Accordingly, Hylissang candidly stated: “I’m not entirely sure, but T1 is really strong. As long as they are not complacent with their victory over us, they will win every upcoming match. I haven’t faced Gen.G yet. But T1 is too strong and thus, I think T1 is somewhat stronger than Gen.G”.

In fact, during the group stage and playoffs of LCK Spring 2023, T1 consistently defeated Gen.G whenever the two teams faced off. Therefore, Hylissang’s assessment is entirely justified as T1 has only lost in the finals in recent tournaments. If T1 and Gen.G have the opportunity to face each other in the near future, a victory for T1 is definitely plausible. Especially since Faker and his teammates are extremely eager to avenge their losses in the last two LCK finals.
