Since the start of the second round of SEA Games 31 qualifiers for League of Legends, SBTC Esports has shown a very different face compared to their performance in Round 1. No longer the SE that was nearly eliminated, but rather a devastating “God of War”. Notably, the “Pink Chick” defeated GAM Esports – an opponent they had never beaten until this second round – twice. SE secured the top spot and has the right to choose their opponent in the final four, one of which could be GAM or Saigon Buffalo.

However, despite performing well in the second round of SEA Games 31 qualifiers, it will be tough for SE to make a significant impact. A spot in the SEA Games 31 as Vietnam’s representative for League of Legends might be just two more BO5 matches away for the “Pink Chick”, but it could also be incredibly far off.
SE is too unstable
Comparing SE in VCS Spring 2022 and SE in SEA Games 31, no one would believe they are the same team, only swapping out the jungle position and sometimes the AD carry. But the reality is that SE in this year’s VCS Spring and the SEA Games 31 qualifiers are two distinct extremes. It can be said that the “Pink Chick” focuses on the goal of the SEA Games 31, but it cannot be denied that the SE players are too unstable.
Take instances like GAM or SGB, they not only performed well in the SEA Games 31 qualifiers but also maintain a stable position in VCS Spring 2022. It’s true for all esports and any sport: if teams are participating in tournaments, they must ensure to maintain both performance and mental stability for all members throughout a long journey.
Currently, while SE is still showing a bright face in the SEA Games 31 qualifiers, everything seems fine for the “Pink Chick”. But betting like this, SE has a high chance of “losing everything”. Just one misstep, all their effort in the second round will be wasted. And in VCS Spring 2022, SE’s chances for a title remain extremely low compared to giants like GAM, CES, or SGB.

Too dependent on individual brilliance
As mentioned above, the main structure of SE in the SEA Games 31 qualifiers and in VCS Spring 2022 differs mainly in the position of Spot. He is an outstanding jungler. In fact, before facing a penalty, Spot was regarded as a highly talented jungler, second only to SofM and somewhat to Levi. However, SE’s dependence on Spot is undeniable and this is a “double-edged sword”.
Certainly, teams like GAM, SGB, or even SKY have understood where SE’s strength lies in this qualifier. Celebrity remains a dangerous detonator, and 2T has moments of brilliance. But anyone can see that in matches against GAM, it was Spot who was the key factor in SE’s victories.

And once the issue is identified, it’s like solving 50% of the problem. It would not be surprising if in the upcoming BO5 series, GAM or SGB, SKY, when facing SE, will find ways to neutralize the explosive factor named Spot. And when the former GAM star is limited, will SE still have any chance of winning against the two giants?
GAM and SGB are both “familiar faces” in BO5 matches
No need to say much, the Vietnamese League of Legends community understands that GAM and SGB are two of the most decorated teams in VCS history. Not to mention the runner-up finishes and appearances in playoffs for these two teams. One can say that GAM and SGB’s prowess in the BO5 series is unquestionable.

But SE is different. Although their players are all top talents in VCS, in reality, these names have never played together in a professional BO5 match. And SE itself has never appeared in a BO5 since its establishment. The upcoming final four will be the first BO5 matches in the history of the “Pink Chick”. Fans are also worried for SE, especially when GAM often switches to “serious mode” whenever entering a BO5.

Conclusion
In any case, as the matches have not officially taken place, any assertion is precarious. And who knows, if SE can recognize their own issues and prepare thoroughly, fans may witness “explosions” from this team nicknamed “VCS Circus” again.
