Despite being a long-standing and highly respected name in the League of Legends community, commentator Hoàng Luân has sometimes found himself caught in unwanted drama related to his “professional illness”. Recently, “Mage Pelu” has been criticized by some Faker fans in Vietnam, who claim that his comments are biased and carry negative implications towards the captain of T1.
The situation arose from a comment on Hoàng Luân’s Fanpage, suggesting that he “should not disrespect Faker” and accusing him of “making disrespectful remarks aimed at Faker”. Subsequently, the commentator, known as “Pelu”, vehemently responded to these allegations, inadvertently sparking heated debates.

There are two main opinions surrounding the incident: One side believes that commentator Hoàng Luân is intentionally attacking and “slandering” Faker, citing examples where Hoàng Luân made jokes targeting T1 players, such as Azir “Dividing Laughter”, Faker “lazy to roam”, and “Faker just shows up to fill the team”…
These examples have been cited by many Vietnamese Faker fans, including a Fanpage with nearly 100,000 likes, used to present arguments criticizing commentator Hoàng Luân for being biased and intentionally “bringing down” Faker.

The second opinion suggests that some Faker fans are being overly sensitive and misinterpreting the meaning behind Hoàng Luân’s comments. Particularly regarding the statement by this commentator that “Faker is only there to fill the team”, Hoàng Luân later explained that “because Faker didn’t have time to do anything, the team had already won”. Many viewers believe this statement implies that T1 players performed well in that match, so Faker didn’t need to exert too much effort for T1 to secure victory.
In a subsequent move, commentator Hoàng Luân posted a status on his Fanpage, quoting a comment implying that “Commentator Hoàng Luân became famous thanks to Faker’s fame since 2014, 2015”. This action likely reflects his confusion over the assertion, as in reality, Hoàng Luân has been one of the prominent commentators of VETV since its early days (before 2013), and he also played a significant role in bringing League of Legends to Vietnam and launching it there.

Following this, Hoàng Luân finally spoke out in detail to explain the situation. In a lengthy status posted afterward, this commentator asserted that all the “sensitive” content related to Faker was merely jokes.
Specifically, the joke “Faker is present just to fill the team” was inspired by Faker’s own statement in another match: “I didn’t have time to do anything, and the team won already.” However, not long after, this status disappeared, and commentator Hoàng Luân stated he was reported for the post.

On the side of the Fanpage for Faker fans in Vietnam, the admin of this fanpage did not accept Hoàng Luân’s admission of error and continued to present arguments criticizing this commentator, from the fact that this is not the first time Hoàng Luân made jokes about Faker that upset some fans, to instances where some of Hoàng Luân’s fans insulted Faker’s fans.

Currently, the incident remains a hot topic of debate in many League of Legends community groups in Vietnam. Some believe that the actions of some Faker fans are understandable, as they want to protect their idol, but others disagree and argue that these reactions are entirely excessive, potentially having a backlash effect on Faker’s image in the eyes of neutral viewers.
