Former World Champion Implicitly Confirms Unemployment

In the midst of a highly active transfer market, a well-known name in the League of Legends community has found himself almost on the sidelines of everything: BeryL. Most information about him comes only from fan groups, revealed after he shared in private chat channels. And as of now, the former champion of two World Championships has also implicitly admitted that he will be unemployed in the 2026 season.

Accordingly, BeryL stated: “I think the 2026 season will be the last time I appear in front of the audience as a professional player. I have tried to find a new team. But it seems not easy for me to achieve my goals at this moment. Therefore, perhaps in 2026, I will focus more on my streaming career.”

Thus, it can be said that BeryL has implicitly acknowledged his failure in finding a new team after leaving DK. In such a context, becoming a streamer is the only option. Although still a player, returning to the role of streamer can be seen as an early farewell from BeryL to professional League of Legends. Indeed, in the LCK, teams typically do not tend to recruit members mid-season, unless in cases of absolute necessity where there are no alternatives.

Fans Also Regret for the Former World Champion

Right below the post about BeryL, many people could not help but feel regret, but admitted that this is an inevitable consequence as professional League of Legends moves towards the future, and teams also have to meet salary cap criteria, tightening their belts. Thus, investing in “veterans” like BeryL is both risky and leads to unnecessary bloated salary caps, which will not be a prioritized choice.

Fans regret, but this is a reasonable outcome.

Moreover, since the championship with DRX in 2022, BeryL has not maintained high performance. The addition of a controversial clip from behind the scenes of DK about a month ago has also caused him to lose points in the eyes of teams if they want a stable and healthy environment for players to develop.
