Coincidentally, many of SofM’s former teammates have recently found themselves in challenging situations. First is TheShy, who has been embroiled in significant controversy with WBG and has temporarily stepped back from competition for the upcoming spring season. Next is Flandre, who is suspected to have been brought to JDG merely as a “front” for training a young player named Sheer.

However, the former teammate of SofM facing the most extreme hardship is undoubtedly FenFen. While TheShy still has a substantial income from livestreaming and Flandre is still on JDG’s roster, FenFen does not share the same fortune. According to FenFen himself, he is currently in such “dire straits” that he cannot pay last month’s electricity bill.

Additionally, FenFen also shared further insights about the actual income of LPL players that left the audience astonished. “People may talk about salaries in the tens of millions of RMB per year, but that is only for a select few players. The majority of players in the LPL earn around 10,000 RMB per month (approximately 34 million VND). I remember back in 2019, the highest income was 30,000 RMB per month. However, after retiring, many cannot reach this income level,” FenFen shared.

In recent years, the League of Legends community has continuously learned about the exorbitant incomes of professional players. Even in the LPL, the salary cap for this tournament reaches up to 12 million RMB per year (approximately 40 billion VND). In fact, in the case of Top Esports, their entire roster, including JackeyLove, Tian, Meiko, etc., all receive the aforementioned salary cap.

However, that is only the income of a select few players in the LPL. Meanwhile, the majority of other players who do not achieve outstanding results have to accept extremely low salaries, as FenFen disclosed. Moreover, after retiring, they face significant challenges in making a living after dedicating their youth to League of Legends.

FenFen served as an assistant coach at Suning for about 5 months in 2021 but did not continue this job afterwards

This is indeed a sad reality in a prestigious tournament like the LPL. As for FenFen, fans can only hope that this former player will soon find a solution to overcome his current difficulties.
