Wei Loses Tens of Billions to Join BLG
On December 5th, BLG officially announced its lineup for the 2025 season. Besides the departure of Xun, names like Bin, Knight, Elk, and On all remain with the team. Additionally, after a loan period from RNG, Wei has officially joined BLG and becomes the team’s main jungler. This is considered a very strong lineup that will help the team continue to dominate the LPL in the upcoming 2025 season.

However, for Wei, the former champion of MSI 2021 and 2022 joining BLG is quite complicated. It is important to note that this year’s LPL organizers have regulations stating that all teams that owe players’ salaries cannot buy or sell players during the transfer period. Meanwhile, RNG (Wei’s former team) owes a huge amount of salary and is unable to pay before the transfer window closes. Therefore, players who are owed salaries by RNG and want to join other teams only have two options: wait to be paid or accept to lose their salary to leave immediately.

According to shares from former RNG players, this is true and many who have retired are still waiting for this team to pay its debts. However, Wei chose the latter option and accepted to forfeit 6 months of his 2024 salary that RNG still owes in order to quickly join BLG for the 2025 season. This amount is estimated at 3.5 million CNY (about 12.5 billion VND) and is considered an extremely high price for Wei.
A Bright Future Awaits Wei at BLG After Being Freed from RNG
Fairly assessing, Wei has every reason to accept losing such a large amount of money to quickly join BLG. It should be noted that after winning the MSI 2022 championship, RNG’s performance has rapidly declined, and Wei should have left a long time ago. However, contractual obligations prevented this from happening and caused this player to waste a significant amount of time at RNG. As soon as he moved to BLG on loan in the second half of the 2024 season, Wei still showed that he is a top jungler in the LPL.

After BLG’s official lineup was announced, they were rated as a top team in the LPL. Even when other names like TES or IG invested heavily in the recent transfer window, the quality of their lineups still seemed inferior compared to BLG. Therefore, the chance of winning the LPL title in the 2025 season for BLG is extremely high. Moreover, the competitive and training environment here is also rated very well, and at least salary debt issues will not occur. For Wei, trading off the 3.5 million CNY that he may never receive for such excellent conditions is probably the best move for him.
