GAM Kicks Off Worlds 2024 with a Major Victory, Levi Sets a Historic Milestone
Following an underwhelming start from Vikings Esports, many fans were concerned for GAM Esports, despite their opponent being Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS Gaming – a representative from what is arguably the weakest wildcard region. In fact, SHG did pose some challenges for GAM, especially in the early stages of Game 1 and from the start to mid-point of Game 2. However, what SHG lacked were individuals who could shine at the right moments and moments of coordinated teamwork. GAM, on the other hand, combined both factors perfectly in their recent match.

Particularly, with the choice of Shyvana in Game 1, Levi also created another historic milestone for himself at Worlds. He became the first player to use the Dragon champion again at a Worlds event after 12 years. This means that since the conclusion of Worlds 2012, Shyvana has faded into obscurity and has not appeared again. Meanwhile, in domestic competitions and MSI, Shyvana has been chosen several times.

Levi Gives “Fire” Statement After First Win at Worlds 2024
Excited by his impressive performance in GAM’s opening match at Worlds 2024, Levi also delivered a “fiery” statement: “If you plan to use Shyvana in Solo Queue, you need to remember that you are not Levi.” His strong performance also thrilled the League of Legends community both domestically and internationally. In addition to Levi, Kiaya was also the first player at this year’s Worlds to have the opportunity to use the new champion Aurora. And with Kiaya’s performance, Aurora has a 100% win rate up until the match between 100 Thieves and Movistar R7.

GAM has had an extremely favorable start and they are just one BO5 match away from the Swiss stage of Worlds 2024. GAM’s victory is also expected to encourage VKE in the lower bracket match to continue nurturing hopes for VCS to achieve the best possible results after the Play-In stage at this year’s Worlds.
