TES Exits Worlds 2024 After “Disastrous” Match Against T1

Before the match between TES and T1 took place, fans were hopeful that this would be a fiery confrontation between two teams with a storied history. However, the reality of the match showed that it was more like a “walk in the park” for T1, as TES did not provide the necessary resistance throughout this Bo5 series. The consequence was that TES suffered a heavy defeat with a score of 0-3 against T1, exiting Worlds 2024 in a manner that was quite “humiliating.”

Not stopping there, TES’s choice of champion and bans in this match indicated that they seemed to be heavily “out of meta.” Right from Game 1, picking the heavily nerfed champion Tristana in patch 14.18 demonstrated TES’s disconnection. Even the decision to ban this champion by TES in Game 2 was criticized by LPL fans, stating they hadn’t even watched T1’s matches because Faker had not used Tristana recently.

LPL Legend Angry with TES for Loss Against T1

Immediately after the match concluded, social media and forums about League of Legends in the LPL region were flooded with posts criticizing TES. Viewers even discovered that 369’s Weibo page had disabled all comments and set it to protected mode to avoid criticism from fans. Notably, former LPL legend Misaya posted on his personal blog to express his extreme frustration after witnessing TES’s performance against T1.

“Agreed that T1 played very well, but I must admit that TES was really disappointing in this match. They failed to maintain the rhythm of the game and played like a ‘second-tier’ team, allowing T1 to completely dictate the pace from movement, securing objectives to pushing lanes. TES played as if they were a Wild Card team, doing everything randomly which led to a quick collapse. Watching them play so poorly makes me feel like I still deserve to play in the Quarterfinals of Worlds, even though I retired 11 years ago; it’s truly unbearable,” LPL legend Misaya candidly shared.

Misaya’s remarks are justified as TES significantly fell short against T1 in objective control. In all three games, TES managed to take only 9 towers from their opponents, while T1 took a staggering 28. Additionally, TES’s ability to secure dragons or barons was completely inferior to their opponents in this match. However, such a significant disparity in stats likely stemmed from being entirely “outclassed,” so Misaya was right to label TES as a ‘second-tier’ team with such a performance.

With the recent defeat against T1, TES ended the 2024 season “empty-handed” with no LPL or international titles. This is truly a sad conclusion for TES this season as they were considered one of the most expensive rosters in the LPL region. In contrast, T1 demonstrated remarkable strength with their victory over TES and appear ready to surpass their next opponent in pursuit of defending their Worlds championship title.
