Faker and his teammates will face DK in the LCK 2025 playoffs
Throughout history, from SKT T1 to the current T1, Faker has encountered many opponents, and several of them have handed “the Demon King” and his teammates quite a few defeats. In fact, names like Gen.G or HLE have often “caused distress” for Faker to the point that whenever T1 wins, it can be seen as a surprise. But if we talk about which opponent has left Faker feeling troubled and has a complicated history, DK must be mentioned.

ShowMaker and DK Are Truly the “Nightmare” Names for Faker and T1
If Chovy only truly dominated and completely overwhelmed Faker’s T1 from mid-2023, then ShowMaker even managed to do what Chovy is doing now back in the period when Faker was still at his peak, specifically from 2020. At that time, Faker was only about 24 years old – still in the prime of a professional player. But it was ShowMaker who, along with DWG (now known as DK), rose to dominate the LCK and subsequently the World Championship. The skill and fortitude of “ShowMaker” should not be underestimated.

Not to mention, in the following years, T1 always faced difficulties, if not outright defeats, whenever they clashed with DK. Even when DK parted ways with Nuguri and welcomed Khan, T1 still found no way to win against this team. It wasn’t until the ZOFGK lineup emerged and DK faced a decline after their failure at the 2021 World Championship that T1 finally ended their “nightmare” streak with ShowMaker and his teammates.
Moreover, the rise and dominance of DWG coincided with the time SKT T1 was restructuring into T1 (late 2019). One could say, while G2 was the first Western team to defeat T1 in the MSI and World Championship playoffs, DWG was tied to the period of decline for T1, and also guaranteed that Faker was pushed to the bench for the first time. Additionally, ShowMaker was then likened to “the one who would overthrow Faker’s throne”.

Now, DK no longer holds the former position while T1 remains the reigning World Champion. For many years, DK has not been a formidable opponent for T1, but undoubtedly, the upcoming matchup between the two teams will still be incredibly exciting to watch.
