Team Secret Makes Continuous Turnarounds in the 2024 Year-End Transfer Window
Within just a few days of the 2024 year-end transfer window, Team Secret has left VCS fans completely bewildered. Initially, they announced the end of their journey in the Vietnamese League of Legends scene not long ago. Shortly after, TS sent players to participate in the KeSPA Cup 2024, implying they would not “disappear” again.

However, on December 5th, TS posted a farewell video to fans and changed their fanpage profile picture to black with the phrase “The End,” leaving the audience extremely confused. Yet recently, they made another “turnaround.” Specifically, TS officially announced a merger with Team Whales to form a single team called Secret Whales. This team will participate in the upcoming LCP 2025.

It can be said that, while not exactly drama, Secret Whales (let’s call them SW) has truly left fans “stumped.” Many expressed joy that TS is not officially disbanding but also “gave up” on the team’s “clunky” announcement.

The Transfer is Done, But Will Secret Whales be Effective?
In reality, the merger of the two teams likely serves the purpose of making the best possible investment, aiming for “minimal costs but maximum expected effectiveness.” The reason being, if either party recruits players from the other, the costs involved are certainly substantial.
Not to mention, in a context where teams like GAM or VKE and other competitors in LCP 2025 will be very strong, reinforcing the lineup through such a combination will ensure both long-term development and results. Overall, this could be a mutually beneficial deal.

However, it is also necessary to consider the “new wine in old bottles” aspect. Because the best quality players from TW have left. The remaining members of TS do not have much international experience. Therefore, whether they can truly perform effectively at LCP will depend on the future performance of the players.
