Gen.G Marks a Sad Milestone for LCK
As reported, on the evening of March 21 (Vietnam time), a true earthquake occurred in the League of Legends scene when Gen.G suffered a bitter 0-3 defeat against G2. It can be said that within just one day, LCK witnessed two major shocks. First, throughout the history of both LCK and LEC, only one European team has defeated two LCK representatives consecutively with the same score of 0-3. In fact, BNK even put up a stronger fight than Gen.G. Next, it has been nearly 3 years since LCK has been absent from the finals of any official international League of Legends tournament.

The last time all representatives from LCK were absent from an international final was at MSI 2023. At that time, BLG and JDG were demonstrating overwhelming performance. Gen.G had just started to dominate LCK with 2 consecutive championships, but when they reached MSI, they were defeated by T1, falling into the losers’ bracket and then losing to BLG with a score of 0-3. This was also the first time an LPL team could win against an LCK team with such a decisive score in MSI history.

Additionally, with Gen.G’s defeat, the First Stand championship officially leaves LCK just one year after HLE won it last year. Clearly, although it is a relatively new international tournament, First Stand has proven that top teams cannot be complacent. The issue is that Gen.G’s defeat stemmed from their own underperformance in terms of form, skills displayed in the match, and determination to win.

A Necessary Wake-Up Call for Gen.G
At the LCK Cup 2026, LCK has seen many changes, and Gen.G is the most stable team. Moreover, this is the early season, and Chovy and his teammates usually perform at a very high level at this time. However, an early defeat has caused everyone to “wake up.” Gen.G still has many weaknesses that opponents can exploit. Perhaps this defeat will help them reflect and improve for the rest of the 2026 season compared to previous years.
