Recently, players of Teamfight Tactics Season 3 have been overly focused on compositions like Cybernetic, Time Warp, Pilot, or Cannoneer. As a result, most players have yet to discover the most playable, richest, and strongest composition: the Pirate composition.
Here’s the guide on how to play the Pirate composition “money that overwhelms you”:

With this lineup, you will aim to accumulate gold to reach 50 as quickly as possible. Specifically, the Pirate trait gives you a 50% chance to receive 1 gold for each kill made by a Pirate champion. The main source of damage comes from Jayce with area damage (450/600/1200) and Darius with single-target damage that is extremely strong at 400/500/750 (doubled if the target is below 50% health). Other champions like Xin Zhao, Rakan, and Mordekaiser will serve as your tanky frontline.
During this phase, even if you don’t use him, you should keep Graves at 1 or 2 stars just in case he becomes hard to find later.
If you happen to lose, don’t worry too much; this is just a money-making and health-preserving composition. Next, we move on to the next phase:

With this composition, the damage will be evenly distributed among Jayce, Darius, and Ashe. You can equip Ashe with energy-boosting items to keep stunning the enemies continuously. However, keep aside 3 essential items: Guardian Angel, Archangel’s Staff, and Rabadon’s Deathcap for your late-game carry (you can also equip them to Kassadin during this phase).
At this point, you will aim to maintain your health, hold onto 50 gold, and level up to level 8 as soon as possible. Once you reach level 8, try to find your main carry, Gangplank, along with Lulu.
After assembling your complete lineup, we will enter the final phase:

In this phase, you will transfer all the items that you saved for Gangplank (Guardian Angel, Rabadon’s Deathcap, and Archangel’s Staff). With this item combo, a skill from a 2-star Gangplank will deal around 1600 damage and can wipe out the entire enemy team, while Gangplank instantly regains full health thanks to lifesteal from the 4 Celestial champions. With those kills, Gangplank earns around 3 to 4 gold thanks to the Pirate trait.
Furthermore, even when you achieve this lineup, you may not have reached the maximum power threshold yet, as you’ll need to go through 3-4 rounds for Gangplank to farm gold and, more importantly, farm items. For every kill, Gangplank has a 15% chance to receive a small item (from the 4 Pirate trait). Then, from those small items, you’ll combine them into bigger items and overpower your opponents with your wealth and gear.
As for the other champions, Ashe and Lulu are your hard crowd control champions in the backline (stunning and hex). Graves will attract skills like Blitzcrank’s hook, allowing Ashe and Lulu to spam their skills. Xin Zhao, Rakan, Darius, and Jayce will serve as the 4 frontliners to protect your main carry, Gangplank.

The strength of this composition lies in its ability to generate gold and items in every round, allowing you to continuously escalate your power and overwhelm your opponents. Additionally, since Gangplank is a Mercenary, he has the opportunity to upgrade his power easily with 8 gold in the shop. So, you don’t have to worry about other compositions catching up to the power level of this one.
