Teamfight Tactics: 3 ‘Damage Shock’ Compositions Worth Playing for Gamers During Quarantine

During the downtime while in quarantine from the pandemic, there’s nothing more exciting than exploring new compositions in Teamfight Tactics.

Shadow Shaco Composition

Shaco has an incredible team-carrying potential with his elusive playstyle that easily dodges damage, combined with his terrifying one-hit ability. When he slips behind the enemy formation, under-leveled or under-equipped carries become easy prey, causing the opponent’s plans to fall apart.

Shadow is a rather unique trait in Teamfight Tactics, as it does not excel in synergy but only truly explodes when the Shadow trait is stacked onto the last remaining unit on the battlefield. With the Spy system, Shaco often becomes the longest surviving target (despite being relatively weak in health) as he always circles behind the enemy formation, and when his Shadow allies fall, the strength of this jester seems to increase exponentially.

Another factor making the Shaco-centric composition a hot meta in TFT season 3 is that he is only a 3-cost unit – incredibly cheap for a super carry.

Shaco has immense potential in the carry role as he can evade enemies using his abilities and the passive of an infiltrator. Shadow stars can be quite tricky to play with sometimes due to their buff rewards, but Shaco certainly has late-game power to carry while being just a 3-cost unit.

Team Composition:

Players need to prioritize collecting a full set of 6 Shadow units, positioning them so that Karma can buff Shaco. With immense shield and tanking capabilities, Mordekaiser combined with Jarvan IV will be the perfect wall for Shaco to have time to sweep through the backline.

Towards the end of the game, if you’re lucky, you can also collect Wukong and Ekko to gain additional Vanguard and Spy buffs.

When to build a Shadow composition:

Building a full Trait/System composition requires quite a bit of “luck”, so the most feasible scenario to build this composition is when you gather 3 Shadows early, upgrade Jarvan IV or Mordekaiser to 2 stars before round 3, or collect Shaco early. In terms of items, prioritize a B.F. Sword as this composition leans heavily towards strong offense.

Mecha

The Mecha composition is extremely favored as this trait possesses impressive power at both the beginning and end of the game. The mid-game phase will be a bit weak because if you don’t gather enough necessary units, it’s tough to pivot to another composition.

Therefore, the key to mastering this composition is to try to build a strong early-game team to maintain health, then accumulate gold to level up as soon as possible to roll for Ekko at level 8.

Team Composition:

The Mecha composition will gain strength when equipped, so if you don’t have an abundance of items, you shouldn’t funnel all items into one unit but distribute them evenly. Prioritize Guardian Angel for Irelia so she can maximize her impact on the enemy team, then funnel magic items to Ekko towards the end of the game.

Try to gather Kayle for additional Blademaster buffs and Wukong to enhance tankiness.

When to build a Mecha composition:

If you roll for Leona or Fiora to 2 stars or get Irelia early.

If you find Magnetic units early or find an early Irelia. A B.F. Sword and Wooden Bow are the two items you should prioritize collecting.

Spy – Mecha

A balanced composition between offense and defense is currently favored by many players. The trio of Mecha champions when combined into Mecha will possess impressive defensive strength and act as a damage sponge while Spy champions circle around to “pick off” any weak carries on the enemy side.

Team Composition:

This composition operates quite simply, still featuring Shaco as the main damage dealer, but we will need to prioritize tank items for Annie to enhance the Mecha’s spinning capabilities.

Gather Kayle for the Saint buff, and when you reach level 8, if you’re lucky, you might have a chance to select Gangplank to “seal” the win with the Blast buff.

When to build a Spy – Mecha composition:

On the surface, this composition only requires 7 champions to complete, but in reality, many of those are high-cost champions and hard to roll. Also, the Mecha will not be very effective if you don’t gather the trio of Rumble – Annie – Fizz, so players will have to endure a relatively challenging early game.

Annie and Kai’Sa should be prioritized, and if you can grab Fizz early, that will be the ideal condition to deploy this composition.
