It’s not by chance that the autobattle game genre is called “fortune chess”; alongside the element of luck, this type of game also has phases similar to a chess match: early game – opening, mid game – middlegame, and late game – endgame. If you know how to select strong units in the early game and transition your formation well in the mid game, but you don’t know how to handle the endgame phase accurately, then losing the top spot despite being very strong beforehand can definitely happen.

The endgame is a phase that requires a lot of finesse from players in arranging formations and counter items

One of the most crucial items in the late game of Teamfight Tactics is the Sword of the Divine, as it allows you to incapacitate an enemy unit for a short time. However, how to use this item effectively can be quite vague. Recently, the top player on the Vietnamese server – Kimi Gaming – provided detailed guidance on how to maximize the power of the Sword of the Divine.

Kimi Gaming and the clever use of the Sword of the Divine

First, we need to understand the mechanics of the Sword of the Divine. It stuns an enemy unit, which everyone knows, but this item does not target randomly; it follows a specific logic. The board in Teamfight Tactics is divided into two halves of 7×4 squares, with each square having a corresponding position on the opposite side. When a unit holds the Sword of the Divine, the opponent in the corresponding square on the other side will be affected.

If you place the stun rod in the 3rd square from the left on the bottom row, the square being stunned on the other side will also be on the bottom row, the 3rd square from the right.

So in the video above, the top Challenger player used the following steps to accurately use the Sword of the Divine and secure victory:

Step 1: Identify the potential opponents you might face. Remember, this is the late game phase, with only 2-3 players remaining, so this step is quite simple.

Step 2: Place the Sword of the Divine on a unit that can move freely.

Step 3: Click on that piece to lift it up.

Step 4: Use the shortcut key (which can be a number key or Q,W,E) to switch the screen to the opponent’s home. There is a visual bug that causes the unit you lifted in step 3 to still appear after you switch screens using the shortcut.

Step 5: Identify the unit you need to incapacitate.

Step 6: Drag the piece you are holding to the position where the Sword of the Divine can stun the target unit.

Step 7: Observe the movement of the opponent’s formation; if the opponent is also adjusting their formation, you need to drag the piece holding the Sword of the Divine to the new appropriate position.

Step 8: When the opponent has finalized their position, press the spacebar to return to your battlefield and drop the piece holding the Sword of the Divine in the new position.

As shown in the video above, even if the opponent changes Ekko's position multiple times, he still gets stunned

The difference between an average player and the top player in Vietnam lies in remembering how the Sword of the Divine works and having the patience to wait until the final moments to learn the opponent’s formation position instead of wasting effort beforehand. To execute this tip requires the player to practice as much as possible and to have a deep understanding of the game.
