The Vietnam Finals of the PMPL 2020 tournament has officially concluded, with the championship going to BOX Gaming. However, a controversy surrounding accusations after the tournament is leaving the community in disarray.
With PUBG Mobile – a survival game that has been achieving significant success since its release just two years ago. Like any game, there are bugs that developers have yet to fix, and players often exploit these loopholes to make their gameplay easier.
Specifically, in the PMPL 2020 finals held yesterday, the championship was awarded to BOX Gaming. BOX Gaming is one of the highly-rated teams in this tournament alongside Matrix United, Xavier, V Gaming, Infinity IQ, etc., so their ticket to the World League was not surprising. However, several other players, not just from BOX Gaming, are being accused of utilizing the smoke bug in competition, which has led the community and other teams to feel it’s “unfair.”

Currently, PUBG Mobile has had issues with smoke before, but most of the basic bugs have been fixed, leaving only one “loophole” that still exists today. This occurs when a player throws a smoke grenade, switches to first-person view, which removes the smoke bomb, allowing them to shoot out.
Recently, the manager of the V Gaming PUBG Mobile team posted a status accusing players from BOX Gaming, Matrix, W2S, and others of exploiting this game bug in competition.

Moreover, one of the players competing directly (2i Zico) also admitted that he and his team had used the “smoke bug.” However, he was very upset when the organizers only penalized 2i and Matrix while other teams went unpunished.

According to our exclusive source, player Zico shared: “We are also wrong in exploiting this loophole during competitions, and we have accepted the penalty. However, the organizers are not fair in handling the violations. If one team gets penalized, then others should too; it can’t just be our team. We strongly disagree with the decision that ‘Other teams using the trick/smoke bug without causing damage are fine, but if it causes damage, they will be penalized.’ I think that once it is used, it is a violation, regardless of whether it causes damage or not.”
