On May 2nd, the winner’s bracket finals of the VCS Summer 2020 Promotion Round took place between OverPower Esports and FTV Esports. In this decisive match for the first ticket to the VCS Summer 2020 from the Promotion Round, OPG excelled in defeating the team known as the “Gatekeeper” FTV Esports with a score of 3-1.
With a roster full of key stars from the former V Gaming Adonis, OverPower had a relatively level playing field against an equally matched opponent. In terms of team strength, FTV and OPG were considered evenly matched, but on a day that saw individual brilliance, especially from jungler DKK, Optimus’s team easily crushed their opponent after 4 games.
The victory over FTV officially makes OverPower Esports the first team from the Promotion Round to qualify for the VCS Summer 2020. To put it more precisely, OPG, formerly V Gaming, has successfully retained its league position.
This achievement also helps Optimus – the founder of OverPower, officially return to the biggest stage of League of Legends in Vietnam in a new role. The former captain of Team Flash did not appear on the roster of OPG for the Promotion Round; however, in the upcoming race at the VCS, Optimus’s experience and resilience will be extremely necessary for OPG. Therefore, it is not unlikely that the former mid-lane superstar will soon make a comeback in the OverPower jersey once again as a player.
