LPL Thanks T1 for Winning the 2024 World Championship
The 2024 season can be seen as an extremely challenging time for the LPL region as they face many significant, difficult-to-solve issues. Notably, the appeal of the tournament has seriously declined, and LPL fans have lost faith in the teams. At that time, many believed that if an LPL team won the World Championship, these problems would be somewhat resolved. However, T1 showcased their excellence and composure by defeating BLG in the finals and securing this prestigious title.

It was thought that BLG’s defeat would plunge the LPL region into a serious crisis, but positive signs emerged in the 2025 season. Especially with the investment from major teams like IG, TES, and JDG, who are “spending big” to retain key players or build a “star-studded” roster. According to former EDG and LNG coach Poppy, if BLG had won the 2024 World Championship, the aforementioned positive developments would not have occurred. Therefore, this coach sincerely thanked T1 for winning this major title.

“Before the finals, many people, including myself, believed that BLG would win the 2024 World Championship. The idea of a roster made entirely of LPL players winning the world title would attract all attention and investment. I really have to thank T1 for defeating BLG; otherwise, the LPL would have fallen into chaos. Remembering T1’s victory, many LPL teams realized that BLG was not absolutely strong, which led them to invest heavily to compete in the 2025 season,” said Coach Poppy.

Defeat to T1 Gives LPL Motivation to Develop
One of the drawbacks of LPL in recent years has been the relatively large power gap between the top and lower-tier teams. While lesser-known teams can pull off a few surprising victories, they will never compete for the title. However, this narrative has gradually changed in the 2025 season as AL has risen strongly, realizing that BLG and other top teams can also be defeated. In fact, they played exceptionally well at the 2024 Demacia Cup leading up to the LPL 2025 Split 1 and are currently ranked above the “big name” TES.

Combined with the heavy investments from many teams, the current LPL season is no longer solely a playground for BLG. This is a promising sign after a long period of LPL losing its necessary appeal. Nonetheless, a large region like LPL still needs a World Championship title to assert its strength and position on the global League of Legends map. Hopefully, with the recent revitalization, LPL will succeed in securing a World Championship title rather than allowing the LCK to dominate as it has in recent years.
