After a long period of neglecting the design of new champions to focus on reworking older champions in League of Legends, Riot Games has recently returned with its roadmap for releasing new characters. In a blog post about the updated champion roadmap just announced, the creators of League of Legends revealed the first details about the identities of 3 new champions set to debut in the Summoner’s Rift this year.
Dreamy Jungler
The new champion soon to appear in the jungle will be a mid-range brawler with the ability to spin and engage in fights.

Additionally, the champion development team shared further details about her skill set: “Be very quiet, as she is very shy, and if teased too much, she might retaliate and vanish while our vision becomes blurry… ethereal. The world around us is slower than ever… NO! We must stay alert! But… this place is so warm and safe… Yes… Sleep…
Zzzzzz…”

It seems that based on the above information, this champion will possess a skill set with plenty of stealth and control effects, leveraging the illusion in her skills to engage and disengage from fights while causing annoyance to her enemies.

An Assassin and a Marksman with a “bloodthirsty” tendency
Although the theory around Yone – Yasuo’s brother is still left open by Riot Games, the latest images in the champion development roadmap suggest that both upcoming assassin and marksman champions will likely be closely related to the land of Ionia.

Alongside the aforementioned assassin, a marksman with a “bloodthirsty” playstyle and a love for carnage will also be introduced later this year. According to the revealed information, this marksman is Fediras – a demon residing in Ionia who may align with Swain to plunge this land into chaos.

Fediras’s playstyle seems quite flashy and shares many similarities with Vayne or Kai’Sa: “Diving straight into the fray, unleashing a rain of blades and bullets, then escaping with barely a sliver of health.”
Dr. Mundo will be reworked in 2021
After a series of champion reworks stretching from 2019 until now, Riot Games will focus the rest of the 2020 season on launching 3 new champions, as mentioned above. Therefore, the next champion rework project, following Fiddlesticks and Volibear, is set to commence in early 2021.
And the main character of the upcoming rework will be the Madman of Zaun – Dr. Mundo. Riot has even mentioned that the Mundo rework project might be interrupted if some new champions (after the 3 mentioned) are completed and planned for release before the first half of 2021.

With both outdated appearance and gameplay, it is not surprising that Dr. Mundo was chosen for a rework plan in the near future.
In conclusion, from now until early 2021, the League of Legends community will welcome at least 3 new champions along with a reworked version of Dr. Mundo. All of these projects are highly promising and are expected to bring significant changes to the League of Legends meta.
