League of Legends has long been divided into 5 clear roles: Top Lane – Jungle – Mid Lane – ADC – Support, and every gamer, whether a novice or a pro, knows this. However, due to the disparity in player skill levels and understanding of the game, the gameplay between low ranks and high ranks is extremely different, even though it’s the same game, League of Legends.

Many may argue that playing Support at low ranks is extremely difficult because teammates are too bad, and you can’t do anything since you’re just the Support. However, LS, the commentator for the English LCK channel, has a completely different opinion. He believes that playing Support is a very complex job and it doesn’t suit players ranked Silver or below. He even bluntly stated, “If you are at Silver rank, don’t play Support; play a role where you can actually play LoL.”
LS: “Supports are even worse; to be honest, if you are a Support player at low ranks, don’t play this role anymore. Switch to a new role like Top Lane or Mid Lane, where you can actually play LoL. Don’t play in a way where you never interact with the ADC or the enemy bot lane like some Silver rank players.”
And then you will suddenly appear in the mid game, allowed to miss skills up to 80% and still win. Is this how you want to play LoL? If you’re playing Top or Bot Lane and missing that many skills, losing is a certainty. Let’s be honest with each other.”

Nick “LS” De Cesare is one of the most prominent foreign names in the LCK. In the 2018 season, he was the first foreign coach in the history of professional Korean LoL, leading the team BBQ Olivers. In the 2019 season, LS switched to a commentator role in the LCK tournament and became a familiar face on the airwaves of Korea’s top LoL tournament.

LS is not just an ordinary commentator; he has even held “online coaching” sessions with top LEC players and various streamers, making him highly regarded for his skill and expertise. His somewhat blunt but truthful remarks truly reflect the situation of low ranks where you can play incredibly poorly or do nothing as Support but still win because your teammates carry the game.

Meanwhile, more important roles like Mid and Top don’t have the same luxury; even at low ranks like Silver, you at least need to understand champion mechanics, itemization, or farm correctly, and you can’t just do nothing and still win. It’s hard to improve this situation as it has gradually become the nature of these lower ranks.
