The tumultuous year of 2020 is gradually coming to its final days. Other activities and sectors are starting to “wrap up”, and Esports is no exception. Awards have been handed out, and the statistics that the gaming community cares about the most have also been announced.

Recently, Forbes magazine announced the top 10 most valuable Esports brands in the world for 2020. Team SoloMid is the richest team in the world, while this list features no names from China – a place considered to have a leading Esports scene alongside South Korea.
Forbes’ list:

● 1 – Team SoloMid
● 2 – Cloud9 Esports
● 3 – Team Liquid
● 4 – FaZe Clan
● 5 – 100 Thieves
● 6 – Gen.G Esports
● 7 – Enthusiast Gaming
● 8 – G2 Esports
● 9 – NRG Esports
● 10 – T1
The announcement from Forbes has truly surprised many. Specifically in League of Legends, Team SoloMid faced a tough time being eliminated from the World Championship with 6 straight losses. However, the consistent performance in other games allows this rare Esports team, founded by a Vietnamese, to still be the richest team in the world.

The rankings also clearly show familiar names in the Esports community. Another surprise is that both T1 and G2 do not have particularly high brand values. In the past year, just considering League of Legends, T1 and G2 also did not perform well; G2 was eliminated in the semifinals of the World Championship, while T1, led by “President Faker”, couldn’t even make it to Shanghai.
