Never Be Stingy with Gold
While playing Teamfight Tactics, you often encounter situations where you have some leftover gold. Many players choose to save gold to ensure they reach the next income threshold in the following round. However, top players tend to have the habit of buying additional champions to avoid wasting this leftover gold. They do this to increase their options for building a team composition instead of sticking to a single team-comp.

This also applies when your team composition is too weak and players need to roll immediately. Rolling champions will help players upgrade their team, avoiding excessive health loss in the mid-game. If you hold onto your income threshold and save gold, there’s a high chance you will lose a lot of health before reaching your desired level. Even if you get lucky and upgrade your carry afterward, losing too much health in the mid-game will cause you to be eliminated earlier than other players.
Pay Attention to the Practicality of Your Pieces
Many players often think that activating additional traits or origins will make their team stronger in the late game. This isn’t necessarily true, as a bit of armor/magic resistance or added health doesn’t solve too many problems. In critical rounds, players should prioritize champions that can counter their opponents to secure victory, rather than trying to activate additional traits or origins.

For example, if you are facing some very ‘tanky’ champions like Sett or Swain while playing a 7 Mage composition, instead of trying to buy Ornn to activate the 3 Woodland threshold, you should look for Lee Sin to deal with the opponent’s carry. You may have to sacrifice some stats from the Woodland trait, but Lee Sin proves to be a much stronger piece in this case. It will help you directly secure victory rather than just activating a trait to ‘beautify your team.’
Maximize Strength from What You Have
According to experts, the most effective way to rank up in Teamfight Tactics is to play the strongest composition, combining useful items from the resources you currently have. Many players tend to follow a pre-set pattern for item combinations and team compositions, missing out on winning opportunities. For instance, in the early game, many players overlook powerful champions like Wukong or Fiora just because they think they are weak or not part of their final composition.

Essentially, each game of Teamfight Tactics will play out according to a completely different script. This means you cannot play the exact same composition throughout a long ranking journey. Therefore, players need to adapt to the resources they possess in each match rather than pursuing a certain “dream team composition.”
