Recently on his personal streaming channel, Khan – the top laner of DWG KIA, officially confirmed that he will retire from professional play at the end of this season. The reason is that he will have to fulfill his military service obligations by the end of 2022.

“After this season, I will retire, as I will likely receive my draft notice around June next year. That is the deadline for me to fulfill my military obligations.
[…]
Actually, I could still compete in the Spring Split of 2022, but as you know, no team aiming for the World Championship would sign a player who can only play in the Spring Split, so I will retire after this season ends.”
In fact, Khan had intended to retire after parting ways with FunPlus Phoenix earlier this year, but Coach kkOma – his former mentor at SKT, convinced Khan to continue playing for another year with DWG KIA.
Although he has long contemplated “retirement,” the desire to achieve an international title has driven Khan to continue his professional journey. Nevertheless, as of now, his dream has yet to come true.

DWG KIA lost in the MSI 2021 final against Royal Never Give Up, and despite having participated in several international tournaments under the banners of KingZone DragonX, SKT T1, and DWG KIA, Khan has yet to secure any titles.
With the confirmation of his retirement at the end of this season, the 2021 World Championship will be Khan’s last opportunity to realize his dream of becoming a world champion.
