On the morning of August 20th (Vietnam time), the online community was taken by surprise when they discovered that the channel of LPL caster Quản Trạch Nguyên received a significant amount of donations during his latest livestream. Notably, the top donor was Rare Atom’s manager Mika, but the next three were among the most powerful figures from Team WE: the long-time sponsor of the team irok, manager Jasper, and CEO Smallorc.

These individuals drew attention not only because of their positions in the two teams competing in the LPL but also because RA and WE were set to face off later that same day. At this point, it’s likely that not just the fans of these two teams, but anyone interested in the LPL, understands why these figures donated so much to Quản Trạch Nguyên.
If in VCS we are accustomed to caster Hoàng Luân, known as Pelu, then MC Candice’s ex-boyfriend is humorously referred to by many Vietnamese fans as “Pelu Trung Hoa” since his predictions often inversely correlate with the actual outcomes. The purpose of these donations to Quản Trạch Nguyên is rooted in superstition, hoping that the “jinx” of the male caster will help their team secure victory.

Whether it’s because he topped the donations for Quản Trạch Nguyên or not, the Rare Atom manager (top donor with only 20,000) couldn’t compare to the combined strength of the three from WE (total donations exceeding 40,000). However, in the playoff match on August 20th (Vietnam time), WE achieved an impressive 3-2 victory over RA, the team Quản Trạch Nguyên had predicted would win. The donation for good luck from the trio of WE’s top figures seems to have been a resounding success.
However, this victory was incredibly hard-fought for WE as they had to play all five games, notably allowing RA to even the score to 2-2 after leading 2-0.

The victory against RA allows WE to continue their journey towards qualifying for the 2021 World Championship, which will take place in their home country of China soon. Their next opponent will be a powerful and hungry EDG. The upcoming match is expected to be even tougher for WE, and perhaps, WE’s management should consider Quản Trạch Nguyên’s “good luck charm” once again.
