Chovy – Tarzan
The luck of the draw has placed Hanwha Life Esports and LNG Esports in the same group right from the Play-In stage of the 2021 World Championship, and we will witness a reunion of two once-famous young stars in the colors of Griffin – Tarzan and Chovy.
As the number 4 seed from both the LCK and LPL regions, the journey to the 2021 World Championship for both Tarzan and Chovy has been nothing short of “magical”. For Chovy and HLE, they finished the LCK Summer 2021 in 8th place overall, but thanks to a good performance in the spring split, HLE still qualified for the regional qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Tarzan played a significant role in helping LNG Esports shed the label of “early season kings”. During the Playoffs, Tarzan and the Unicorns of Shuzhou even created a series of upsets by defeating both Suning and Royal Never Give Up – the teams that were the reigning world vice-champions and the current LPL champions, respectively.
Khan – FPX
In a recent interview, Khan expressed his desire to personally “take down” LWX and Tian – his close former teammates during his one-year tenure with FunPlus Phoenix. In response to the “challenge” from the Great Khan, Chinese fans have already begun preparing for the classic top lane matchup between Khan and Nuguri – the two top-laner stars currently at the top of the world.

This is not just a reunion for Khan, but the clash between DWG KIA and FunPlus Phoenix is also a classic matchup between two top contenders for the 2021 World Championship title. Even though FPX has lost in two consecutive LPL finals, no one doubts that they are the team with the most comprehensive playstyle and explosive potential currently.
It is not EDG, but FPX is considered the worthy rival of DK in the championship race, and the two Bo1 matches in Group A will help shape the image of this year’s new king of League of Legends.
EDward Gaming/Scout – T1
EDward Gaming and T1 (SKT) can be considered the most fateful matchup in the history of professional League of Legends, both in MSI and the World Championship. In the last two World Championships (in 2015 and 2017), EDG faced bitter defeats against T1 when both teams were in the same group, especially at the 2017 World Championship group stage, which witnessed two of the most legendary comebacks in League of Legends history.

For Scout – the mid-laner of EDG, this is also a matchup against his former team – the place that discovered his talent and brought this star’s name into the spotlight.
