On February 10th, the final matches of Round 1 of the SEA Games 31 qualifiers for League of Legends took place. With 4 teams already securing their spots in Round 2 (prior to this matchday), fans could only hope for surprises from the remaining teams, especially in Group B. Team Secret and CERBERUS Esports were still showing dominance over their opponents in Group A, while Group B was more balanced, particularly with SBTC Esports and Coach Ba’s team being on the brink of danger.
However, the final match day recorded no surprises. CES, even with their second-string lineup, showed great dominance, and Team Secret was no different. Both teams had little trouble securing the last 2 spots of Group A to join Saigon Buffalo and GAM Esport in Round 2 of the SEA Games 31 qualifiers. Meanwhile, GAM also successfully avenged SGB to rise to the top of Group A.

In Group B, the focus of the final match day of Round 1 of the SEA Games 31 qualifiers for League of Legends was on 2 teams: SBTC Esports and AS Esports. While Burst The Sky Esports remained safe and only needed to secure at least 1 more win to be fine, SE and ASE had to face each other directly for the last spot in Group B. And on a day when SE performed at their peak, EasyLove alone was not enough to carry the team to Round 2. Ultimately, Group B also recorded no surprises.

Thus, with all 8 teams from VCS A advancing, the SEA Games 31 qualifiers did not deviate from the expectations of the League of Legends community, becoming a “mini VCS A”. It also shows that the skill gap between VCS A and VCS B remains significant. Teams like VietSun Esports or ASE only managed to cause some surprises but still fell far short compared to the overall level of the teams in VCS A, both in skill and competitive spirit.
In Round 2 of the SEA Games 31 qualifiers, there will be matchups between teams that are very familiar with each other in VCS A. With excellent performances in Round 1, SGB, GAM, and Luxury Esports are the strong contenders for representing Vietnam at the upcoming SEA Games 31. And no matter which team is chosen, they will have to give their all in the journey to bring home the gold medal for Vietnam in League of Legends at the upcoming SEA Games 31.
