In recent days, as TFT Set 6 is nearing its end, all players’ attention is shifting towards Set 6.5 with its new changes. Along with the introduction of new Augments, there will also be changes to the champions and traits. New traits will replace the old ones, accompanied by new champions. Notably, the introduction of Silco and Renata Glasc – two champions that have yet to debut in League of Legends but may appear in Riot’s auto-battler first.

Those who have experienced the PBE version of TFT have given positive feedback about this season. Besides the major changes in Augments and traits, the adjustments to champion power will significantly impact the meta of the upcoming TFT Set 6.5. Recently, T1’s “Super Challenger” Bebe872 shared his insights on the new season.
Specifically, he believes that the 5 gold champions in TFT Set 6.5 will no longer be seen as primary damage dealers; instead, they will serve mainly to activate traits or supplement the team composition without contributing much power. Bebe872 analyzed that in Set 6.5, champions like Jinx, Kai’Sa, Viktor, and Zeri deal DPS damage but require too many items to be effective, which are not easily attainable. If upgraded without items, they will lack damage, and since these champions are not particularly resilient, they will be nearly ineffective.

Other champions like Silco, Galio, or Jayce will serve as tanks or buffers. Galio can still be strong if built for damage following the old meta with items like Infinity Edge or Thieves’ Gloves, but currently, players are no longer as afraid of this build as when it first appeared. As for Tahm Kench, if he is not “fed” with items, he will primarily play the role of controlling a single opponent with hard CC but can easily get burst down if placed in the frontline.

Bebe872 concluded that 5 gold champions in TFT Set 6.5 should only be used as buffers, tanks, and semi-carries on the board. The main carries should still be the existing strong 3 and 4 gold champions, which offer more diverse damage options, like Jhin, Vi, Ahri, or Draven… Notably, Draven, the 4-cost champion, is showing a power level that is not inferior to what it was in Set 5, if not superior, as he now also benefits from the VIP effect from the Elegant trait, making Draven, already strong, even more terrifying.
