Behind the Scenes of Sty1e’s Pentakill in VCS Spring 2022 Debut: The GAM Team Had to Beg “Brother Khánh”

VCS Spring 2022 is gearing up for the second week of competition in just a few days. In the opening week, most of the higher-rated teams have secured victories. Notably, in the matchup against their “arch-rival” CERBERUS Esports, with a significantly weakened opponent missing EGO, GAM Esports seized the opportunity for revenge. Not only did they convincingly defeat the “God Dog” with a score of 2-0, but marksman Sty1e also kicked off his season with a pentakill at the end of game 1.

Highlights GAM vs CES [Game 1][VCS Spring 2022][12.02.2022]

Recently, a mic-check clip revealing the behind-the-scenes moment of Sty1e’s pentakill was officially released, delighting the VCS community. It turns out that to secure his first pentakill in VCS Spring 2022, Sty1e and the entire GAM team had to “beg Brother Khánh” repeatedly. At that moment, GAM was chasing down CES members, and Sty1e took down each opponent one by one, with the last being Pun’s Gragas. At that moment, Kiaya, Sty1e, and Kati all called for the pentakill for their marksman. Sty1e even shouted, “please pentakill” fearing that his brother, who was playing Nidalee, might “accidentally” throw a spear to finish off the opponent.

The entire GAM team had to “beg” Levi for Sty1e to get the pentakill

Right after Sty1e’s pentakill, Levi admitted in the mic-check clip that he had intended to throw a spear to finish off Pun but decided to hold back when he heard his teammates urging him. For those who may not know, not long ago, during VCS Winter 2021, in the final group stage match against a demotivated Saigon Buffalo, Sty1e almost secured a pentakill for himself but was “stolen” by Levi. Notably, the last champion “Brother Khánh” took down back then was also Gragas, but in the hands of BeanJ.

With the mental momentum from a comfortable VCS Spring 2022 and having just annihilated CES 2-0 in the SEA Games 31 qualifiers, “venting” after a loss to SBTC Esports, GAM is in a strong psychological state heading into week 2 of VCS Spring 2022. The team’s goal, of course, is to win every championship in every tournament GAM can participate in, and clearly, Levi and his teammates are proving to be an almost unstoppable force this season.
