The SEA Games 31 League of Legends qualifiers have officially reached their conclusion with the final match held on March 12 between GAM Esports and Saigon Buffalo. Given their performances throughout the qualifiers and the VCS Spring 2022, regardless of which of these two teams participated in SEA Games 31, both had a strong chance of bringing home the gold medal for the country.

Right from game 1, both teams showed their determination for the Vietnamese representative slot at this SEA Games 31. Both SGB and GAM played with great caution. SGB secured the first Baron of the match but at the cost of three deaths. GAM continued to demonstrate dominance in team fights around the 30-minute mark and claimed victory in the opening game of the final.
However, in game 2, the situation was similar, but the outcome was completely different. This time, GAM was the team to secure Baron first but was taken down by SGB. However, GAM managed to secure a second Baron. Unfortunately for SGB, Shogun’s “200 years of experience” Zeri was too weak. SGB equalized the game after a clean sweep of GAM’s lineup around the 39-minute mark.
In game 3, SGB faced a catastrophic gank in the top lane when Kiaya went down but managed to secure a kill on BeanJ. GAM gained advantages early on, and the VCS Winter 2021 runner-up didn’t miss the chance to snowball effectively, suffocating SGB’s every effort. After just 28 minutes of play, GAM concluded game 3 and once again took the lead in this best-of-five match.
In the deciding match, GAM’s superiority over SGB was evident. Within just 17 minutes of play, GAM had a nearly 10k gold lead. GAM’s Rift Herald pushed right up to SGB’s Nexus turret. Although the “Buffaloes” showed some effort, GAM was simply too strong. The match ended quickly with a decisive victory for GAM.

With this victory, GAM officially becomes Vietnam’s representative at the upcoming SEA Games 31 in the League of Legends category. GAM’s strength is beyond question. According to the League of Legends community in Vietnam, GAM has a solid chance of bringing home the gold medal for Vietnamese League of Legends at this international-level tournament.
