On the final match day of Week 7 of VCS Spring 2022, all eyes were on the spotlight match between CERBERUS Esports and SBTC Esports. One side is the reigning champion of VCS Winter 2021 but has been showing inconsistent performance. The other side is the “VCS Circus” SE, standing on the edge of relegation with 6 losses out of a total of 10 matches played (prior to this confrontation).

But a real surprise occurred on the day EGO officially returned to VCS. The “Hound God” was unexpectedly defeated by SE. In both games, CES had moments of leading against SE. However, the poor execution by the players, especially key members like Artemis and Yado, caused CES’s chances of victory to slip away. In Game 2, CES had a significant lead in kills and economy at one point. But just two careless moves from Yado and Artemis ruined EGO’s roaming efforts from the start of the game.
Witnessing CES play in a “not wanting to win” manner, CES fans were truly disappointed. Many criticisms were directed at this team after their defeat against SE – an opponent CES has always dominated in their encounters.

Additionally, it cannot be denied that SE’s players, especially Nper and 2T, had an outstanding day. Particularly Nper, who made CES’s top lane attacks quite challenging. Across various forums, the VCS community has been circulating letters of apology to Nper and 2T following their victory over CES.

With this defeat, CES has put themselves in a tough spot. Only three matches remain in the group stage, and perhaps only Luxury Esports is the easiest opponent left. If the “Hound God” loses all three remaining matches while SE wins all, the “Pink Chick” will overtake CES in the standings and turn the “Hound God” into a former champion just after the group stage.
