The match that the League of Legends (LoL) community has been eagerly anticipating is undoubtedly the showdown between T1 and Gen.G Esports (Gen.G) on the afternoon of July 30 (Vietnam time). Besides being two strong candidates for the LCK Summer 2022 championship, both names will surely be highly regarded if they secure a spot in the upcoming World Championship (2022).

In an outstanding performance, Gen.G convincingly won 2-0 against the reigning champions (Defending Champion) of the LCK Spring 2022. T1 had moments of taking the lead, but they could not control the game against the Gen.G players. Notably, the champion Zeri in the hands of AD Carry Ruler shone and secured most of Gen.G’s kills in the second game.
After the match ended, there was much discussion among experts and the LoL community regarding this result as well as the performances of both teams. Notably, unlike the majority opinion that T1 lost due to leaving powerful champions available, which suited the Gen.G players like Ahri or Zeri, T1 legend and former player Wolf pointed out a different reason for T1’s defeat.

According to Wolf, he stated: “Both teams had reasonable bans and picks. It all depended on the performance of the players in the match. The Gen.G players were quite aggressive, and T1 tried to punish Gen.G for their mistakes. But T1’s turret dive failed. Gen.G won because they played better today.”
In fact, T1 had moments where they took the lead against Gen.G in terms of game flow and economy, as seen in Game 1. However, the T1 players made critical mistakes that allowed Chovy and his teammates to regain control. Thus, in both Game 1 and Game 2, when Gen.G accelerated, T1 could not withstand the pressure anymore.

This defeat is undoubtedly a valuable lesson for T1 in their journey ahead this season. Ahead of them, after the LCK Summer 2022, will be the World Championship 2022. In the biggest international tournament in the LoL scene, there will be many strong opponents, and if T1 does not make changes soon, they may face “bitter fruit” in the remainder of this season.
