On the evening of May 9, while MSI 2023 was ongoing, CERBERUS Esports unexpectedly announced that they had parted ways with jungler EGO. This came as quite a surprise, although many fans had anticipated that EGO would soon bid farewell to the “God Dog”. Throughout Spring 2023, he barely saw any playtime. What left fans stunned was CES’s announcement, which seemed a bit hasty, even unable to wait until MSI concluded.

According to CES, this announcement was supposed to be made on May 10, but since EGO had already shared this decision with SofM during a live broadcast, CES had no choice but to reveal it immediately. In fact, EGO shared the news with SofM while he was live streaming MSI 2023. Therefore, everything seemed to be clear even before CES’s announcement.

In addition, EGO mentioned that he has two intended destinations: Saigon Buffalo and SBTC Esports, and he sought advice from SofM. However, the “Jungle God of Vietnam” has not responded to messages from his junior. On the same day, May 9, SGB also parted ways with jungler BeanJ. Meanwhile, SE has yet to announce any personnel changes.

However, fans do not believe that EGO will easily find a suitable destination. Perhaps everyone still remembers the troubles he inadvertently or intentionally brought to CES since early 2022. Not to mention, in the very announcement of leaving CES, EGO also did not act very professionally by not cooperating with the management team and publicly disclosing information to a third party. While EGO may not have intended to do so, it has affected CES’s public relations.

Furthermore, the future destinations that EGO inquired about with SofM may not be theoretically feasible. SGB currently has a solid jungler in Gury. This team has not shown the capability to utilize two junglers simultaneously. As for SE, the Spring 2023 VCS runners-up have a strong roster, but the players have very high egos. Moreover, DNK is currently one of the pillars of SE. It will be difficult to envision SE replacing DNK with EGO, at least in the near future.

Currently, there is still no information regarding EGO’s decision or SofM’s response. However, in the worst-case scenario, EGO might have to temporarily part ways with VCS in Summer 2023 and wait for an opportunity next year.
