In Teamfight Tactics season 9, the reroll strategy focusing on upgrading multiple 3-cost champions is making a strong comeback. The reason lies in the fact that this playstyle receives substantial support from the regions, Legends (providing Champion Copying Device, Tactical Crown…). This inadvertently increases the pace of the game too much, making the gold-preserving and leveling-up strategies quite challenging.

Therefore, in the upcoming patch 13.14, Riot Games will tweak several regions and the Hextech core to support the gold-preserving playstyle. According to Riot Mortdog, the Project Director of Teamfight Tactics, the changes in the upcoming patch will empower 5-cost carries to be more effective and impactful.
Specifically, the “Yuumi’s Party” area has been revamped with a new effect granting 2 experience points each time a player buys experience. The “Anti-Magic Forest” area has also been redesigned to provide 3 component items to players instead of increasing health as it currently does. Additionally, the “Champion’s Strategy” area has been adjusted, reducing the gold required to exchange for rewards from 2 to 1.

Regarding the Hextech core, the Affordable Shopping core will become a silver core with a slightly higher appearance rate. This will increase the likelihood of players obtaining this core, thereby enhancing their chances of acquiring expensive champions. Combined with reaching level 9, players will have a higher chance to upgrade 5-cost champions to 2 stars.

After the nerfs to Lux, Kai’Sa, and the Legend Ezreal, reroll compositions have become excessively strong. Hopefully, with these adjustments, the playstyle based on 5-cost carries will become powerful and competitive against reroll compositions in the next patch.
