After many days of anticipation, the LCK Spring 2024 has officially kicked off with one of the main matchups being the Super Classic between Gen.G and T1. This highly anticipated clash features two “kings” of the scene. On one side is Gen.G, the reigning LCK champions, and on the other side is T1, the new champions of the League of Legends scene after winning the 2023 World Championship. Naturally, in this opening match, both teams were eager to secure a victory to set a solid foundation for their journey ahead.

T1 started strong, taking an early lead thanks to the cool composure of the players, knowing that a single team fight victory could end the game. However, Gen.G, returning to the LCK, proved to be a completely different force compared to their performance at the World Championship. Even Canyon, paired with outstanding teammates, maintained his “quirky” style despite the absence of ShowMaker. Canyon’s ability to cover the map along with Lehends helped Gen.G equalize in game 2, dominate game 3, and secure victory in the opening match against the reigning champions.

Watching the match between T1 and Gen.G, even the fans of the new world champions had to admit that both teams know how to… “create content.” The continuous “throwing of the game” between Gen.G and T1 showcased both skill and the thrilling nature of the match, yet also revealed moments of extreme lack of focus from the players. Keria and Oner made errors, but quickly followed up with impressive steals of Dragon and Baron, reigniting hope for T1. Similarly, Chovy and Kiin, who played cautiously at the start, also had some extremely careless plays that prevented Gen.G from closing out the game early, extending it to over 42 minutes. Some even commented, “Heartbroken from the comedic performance of the two teams.”

Additionally, many VCS fans mentioned Commentator Hoang Luan. Many may recall that the most famous commentator of VCS confidently claimed T1’s ability to win every match to the extent that he promised to donate 2 million VND for every match T1 lost. And now, after T1’s actual loss, the commentator has become a trending topic among VCS fans.

Of course, this match doesn’t define anything, and both teams have much to reflect on. However, Gen.G had a smoother start and demonstrated that the LCK is indeed a “fertile ground” for Chovy and his teammates.
