One of the teams showcasing the most impressive performance in the LCK Spring 2024 so far is undoubtedly Kwangdong Freecs. A youthful team with high skills, KDF is proving to be the real “dark horse”. Names like Dplus KIA and previously KT Rolster have felt and recognized the strength of KDF. Notably, AD Carry Bull is showing why he was rushed from the Challengers team to the main roster, replacing Taeyoon. Ahead of the matchup with Gen.G, KDF was also expected to cause an upset.
Indeed, KDF did not disappoint fans as Gen.G had to sweat to secure the victory. In particular, during Game 1, there were moments of brilliance from DuDu that gave KDF significant advantages. However, the mobility of Canyon and the exceptional skills of Chovy and Kiin helped Gen.G clinch the win. Notably, we cannot overlook Kiin’s performance with K’Sante, who had at least two instances of “single-handedly taking on the entire enemy team” and nearly wiping out KDF’s whole lineup.
It can be said that Gen.G’s victory over the “dark horse” of LCK Spring 2024 has a significant contribution from Riot. Their top-lane fighter champion was truly “terrifying” even though throughout most of the game, K’Sante struggled against the power of Aatrox in DuDu’s hands. Moreover, Kiin’s K’Sante built as a pure tank still managed to deal impressive damage.
Witnessing the power of K’Sante in Kiin’s hands, alongside the skills of Gen.G’s players, many fans have deemed this champion to be overly “trash”. With a pure tank K’Sante, Kiin dealt 30k damage, a figure that even AD Carries would envy. It’s worth noting that DuDu’s Aatrox only managed around 27k damage. Some opinions even called for Riot to quickly remove or urgently nerf this champion.
However, at least for now, Riot seems unlikely to make any significant adjustments to the champion from Shurima. But in the future, the publisher may consider further nerfing K’Sante, especially as this champion continues to dominate in professional LoL, particularly in the hands of high-skill players who can easily turn defeat into victory.
