At VCS Spring 2024, GAM Esports has undergone a series of changes compared to their performance at the recent Worlds 2023, with names like Kati, Slayder, and Palette all departing. Not only that, but on the coaching bench, GAM has also bid farewell to previous members and brought in new faces, notably three reunions in the yellow and black colors: Coach Archie, and the player duo Blazes and Elio. Alongside them is the young talent who previously played for CERBERUS Esports – Pyshiro. Despite facing significant skepticism, when VCS Spring 2024 paused for the Lunar New Year, GAM was still proudly at the top with an unbeaten streak of five matches.

According to recent statistics from the VCS organizers, Pyshiro possesses a series of impressive stats after the first phase of the VCS Spring 2024 group stage concluded. The rookie from GAM currently holds the highest KDA with a score of 11.1. The 2003-born marksman also has the lowest average deaths per game in the VCS (1.2 deaths/game) and boasts the highest average kill participation per game at 7.7 kills/game. It can be said that Pyshiro has very impressive stats, even surpassing established names in the VCS like Artemis, Shogun, and Puddin.

However, for many VCS viewers, performances in domestic tournaments have yet to validate anything. This is because even Pyshiro’s two most recent predecessors, Sty1e and Slayder, performed exceptionally well in this tournament. The important factor is the composure and skills demonstrated in international tournaments. Currently, in the VCS, GAM is significantly ahead, with opinions suggesting: “As long as Kiaya and Levi are still around, GAM remains very strong.” The yellow and black team has shown that this assessment is accurate.

Furthermore, the group stage of VCS Spring 2024 has just completed nearly one-third of its journey, leaving plenty of time for Pyshiro to prove himself. This player has performed well, but how he will fare when GAM enters the decisive phase remains a big question. Additionally, what VCS fans and GAM supporters need to see is whether Pyshiro can deliver when Levi and Kiaya’s performance declines. After all, players like Artemis and Shogun have shone even when their teams were at a disadvantage.

More importantly, when Pyshiro’s performance does not meet expectations, how will the VCS community view this young player? At the age of 20 or 21, GAM’s marksman is undoubtedly a future investment. But whether he can withstand the pressure to shine is something we will have to see how this gem of the VCS champion can strive for.
