TFT Season 11: Completely Countering Sura with a Super Fighter Composition

The Fighter composition may be an effective choice for players climbing ranks and countering the currently strong Sura meta in TFT Season 11.

One of the most popular compositions right now is Sura, which provides players with an extra Kayle unit without taking up any additional slots on the board. This means players will always have the advantage of numbers in battle, relying neither on Golden Shovel nor Technology Augments, while the additional champion is also very strong. Moreover, the power-boosting mechanisms for Kayle can also “buff” allies. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the meta revolving around Sura occupies all 5 tiers in TFT Season 11 at present, starting from Platinum rank and above. Among them, 3 Sura – Mythic has a win rate of 64.5% and a 19.5% chance to reach top 1.

However, this doesn’t mean that Sura has no counters. One of the easiest ways to build a composition that can be strong consistently with multiple champions that have both damage and good tanking ability is the Fighter composition. This composition can completely counter Sura and even achieve high rankings.

One of the advantages of this composition is the sturdiness provided by the Fighter champions, and when the trait is activated, it also boosts the entire team’s health accordingly. At that point, the champions fulfilling the tanking role only need to equip a few durability items, while the main damage dealers (Aatrox, Riven, Sylas) will carry additional damage-dealing items. Additionally, the Fighter champions come from a diverse range of origins (Sura, Shadow, Spirit…) which helps players easily incorporate other units for additional “buffs” or recovery.

Building the Composition

In the early game, players can easily obtain the two main damage dealers of the composition, Aatrox and Riven. Combined with Rek’Sai and Kobuko, they can activate 4 Fighters, providing an early advantage. Moreover, Riven and Aatrox come from two other strong origins, Sura and Spirit – Shadow Cloak. This allows players to pivot if the situation is unfavorable or if many players are using the same meta.

In the mid-game phase, players need to acquire key defensive champions early on, including Tahm Kench, Sylas, and Shen. The Fighter composition realistically only requires 6 Fighters and needs to keep slots open for “buff” champions like Soraka or backline damage dealers for the late game like Xayah. Having Tahm Kench and Sylas will provide players with the ability to disrupt fights, control, and deal additional magic damage.

In the late game, players will replace Rek’Sai and Kobuko with higher quality names, such as Galio and Xayah. The completed composition in the late game at level 8 consists of: Aatrox – Sylas – Tahm Kench – Shen – Galio – Xayah/Rakan – Soraka – Riven.

The appropriate Augments for this composition include the Fighter Crown to maximize the composition’s power. Additionally, there are also Gladiator and Deadly Strike. These are the augments that will fully unleash the potential of this composition.

Conclusion

The Fighter composition is strong in that it can increase the overall durability of the team. However, an important factor is that this composition requires a lot of damage items. Riven and Aatrox are cheap champions, and without sufficient items, they will struggle to make an impact. Moreover, Soraka or Xayah/Rakan in the late game will also require many items to become useful for the entire team.
