It can be said that the return of a series of legends in the VCS as well as several former stars who recently retired has made the playoffs of VCS Spring 2024 hotter than ever. Additionally, Team Secret’s choice to face Team Whales inadvertently “helped” VCS fans get the chance to witness one of the most anticipated matchups: SofM vs. Levi. Although SofM played in the Support position, he was still able to lead VKE past a difficult opponent like GAM.

In fact, VKE almost gave GAM any opportunity. In game 1, SofM and his teammates showcased their superiority right from the early game. VKE gradually snowballed, leaving GAM unable to defend. Even SofM’s Karma had a KDA that rivaled that of the primary damage dealers. Game 2 unfolded with a nearly identical script and concluded after VKE secured the Elder Dragon and Baron. Once again, it was SofM with Karma, and he was even more dominant than Levi on the opposite side.

Witnessing SofM’s overwhelming performance, VCS fans couldn’t hide their excitement. It is not an exaggeration to say that SofM was the biggest difference maker for VKE. Although it is also a VCS team, VKE’s macro strategies were reasonable in every play. They even displayed a calmness that was often lacking in other VCS teams. Even young players like Fireblade and Tomrio played confidently against the star-studded GAM lineup. SofM, despite playing Support, surpassed the KDA of GAM’s main carries like Levi and EasyLove.

Notably, many fans jokingly suggested that Riot and the VCS organizers should “investigate” Emo from GAM. This is because the young player had a less than stellar performance. However, one can sympathize with Emo as he faced the formidable “VKE-with-SofM”. Not to mention, compared to Kati, Emo lacks both skill and high-level competitive experience.

VKE’s victory was overwhelmingly convincing, and GAM is not completely out of hope yet. But with SofM’s appearance, VKE is brimming with opportunities to win the VCS Spring 2024 like never before.
