The highly anticipated Grand Final of MSI 2024 between Bilibili Gaming and Gen.G has taken place, and it is considered a historic final. Both teams showcased an almost flawless style of play. Not to mention, both BLG and Gen.G fielded their strongest rosters from their respective regions. And finally, equally important, this is the first international final in the career of Chovy and Gen.G since the team rebranded from KsV Esports. An international title will put an end to Chovy’s past “unlucky” streak with international titles.

In reality, no one expected the match between Gen.G and BLG to be so one-sided. Both Gen.G and BLG played well, but in critical moments, BLG repeatedly made puzzling self-destructive plays. For instance, in game 4, BLG had a strong backdoor advantage. However, it was unclear why when Gen.G was being taken down multiple times, players like Knight, Xun, and Bin did not return to secure objectives (Baron, Dragon Soul) and hastily tried to finish the game. It can be said that when Bin, followed by Knight and Xun, were taken down, BLG’s hopes were dashed.

Chovy himself and his teammates performed well. However, they truly faced a lot of difficulties in games 3 and 4. If not for the BLG players being overly hasty in crucial moments, Gen.G might still have won overall, but they wouldn’t have found themselves in the Elder Dragon situation afterward or even potentially lost game 4.

Nevertheless, Gen.G is a deserving champion and they have shown that currently, Gen.G is the most powerful and perfect team. The MSI 2024 title also marks Chovy’s first international championship and that of the entire Gen.G team (since rebranding) and is Canyon’s first MSI cup. It is quite possible that in 2024, this will not be their last international title, especially as Gen.G will have a solid psychological foundation for the upcoming 2024 World Championship.
