As is known, Riot has announced the pricing for the Hall of Legends skin line for Faker, with the full collection costing over 5 million VND (in the Vietnamese server). For the international servers, this number is even higher. For instance, in the LEC, the price for Faker’s HoL skin is around 500 USD (over 12 million VND). This price is incredibly steep, even for foreign gamers, streamers, and KOLs. What’s even more striking is that Riot has released such an expensive skin line to honor a player whose life philosophy is to spend wisely, live frugally, and who has only used skins six times throughout his over 11-year career.

Of course, Faker himself probably didn’t expect that his honoring skin line would have such a high price. For the gaming community, while they might be aware that skins from the Hall of Legends mechanism are generally more expensive, the price being so far beyond normal has left many surprised. Some opinions even suggest that this is a misstep by Riot. Because only for Faker might players see that price as reasonable. But for other names, the wave of outrage could increase significantly if this price is applied uniformly to all collections under HoL.

Almost immediately, a boycott of Riot’s HoL skin line erupted. Alongside comments expressing reluctance to spend money, many gamers have come up with an even “unique tactic” to completely “ban” this skin line. Specifically, many comments are ready to ban Ahri in every match until League of Legends fades away so that players have no chance to use the skin anymore. If this becomes a reality, Ahri may become the most banned champion in future patches.

However, there is a more positive direction that Riot might reconsider the pricing or may have to add more incentives and events so that players can “level up” without having to spend too much money. But until now, Riot has remained quite silent even though the opposition is still very strong.
