It is rare to witness a team as unpredictable as KT Rolster in any season. Still composed of star players who have built their reputations and proven their skills on the professional League of Legends stage, KT truly puts their fans and the League of Legends community through a rollercoaster of emotions after each match. In fact, when KT faces any opponent at the moment, whether it’s the lowest-ranked team or top contenders, it’s hard for people to predict if KT will win or lose. A prime example is in their last two matches, where they lost to Kwangdong Freecs but managed to “shut down” Gen.G’s unbeaten streak.

KT’s fluctuating performance makes them an unpredictable collective. Notably, even key players like Bdd, Deft, and BeryL have shown inconsistent performances that are hard to foresee. For instance, in the match against Gen.G, Bdd played as if it were a World Championship final. Meanwhile, Deft, BeryL, and Pyosik seemed to be reliving their 2022 selves. Yet, these same players struggle against mid-tier teams like KDF or even the bottom-ranked teams like OKBRO. Bdd himself admitted he does not understand how his team will perform.

“Our recent training has not been very good. I really cannot understand the level of competition in our team as it fluctuates continuously on match days. I also don’t know the reason for this,” Bdd shared in a recent press conference. Additionally, Bdd acknowledged that KT has not yet escaped the danger zone in their quest for playoff qualification. However, defeating Gen.G has somewhat boosted the morale of the players.

In reality, everyone understands that KT has certain issues, and the team itself may not have fully resolved them, even after their recent victory over Gen.G. However, it can be said that this essential win against Gen.G will lay a good foundation for KT to maintain a playoff spot after the group stage.
