However, the recruitment of an 18-year-old player, Sheer, who has never played in the LDL, has surprised many. Coupled with his youthful appearance, many LPL viewers have begun to suspect that Sheer may not actually be of legal age to compete.
After JDG’s first two matches in the LPL Spring 2024, this young player has yet to see a minute of playtime. Therefore, despite JDG securing convincing victories, the team remains the focal point of rumors within the LPL. Many speculate that JDG’s young star has faced some punishment for not being of legal age, which is why Sheer has not taken to the stage recently.

“Recently, there have been many false reports regarding player Sheer being banned from competing in the LPL due to age fraud. We (JDG) would like to clarify that the team always adheres to the tournament regulations and has not violated any rules regarding player age. JDG will continue to monitor these rumors to gather evidence. If they harm JDG and the player, we will take strong measures to address them,” JDG stated firmly in response to the malicious rumors.
Fairly speaking, Sheer is a very young and inexperienced professional player. Therefore, JDG has allowed a more experienced player like Flandre to take the lead in LPL Spring 2024. Meanwhile, Sheer will need to use this time to learn and gain experience. This could be a reasonable development path for JDG as they are not rushing to “ripen” their young talent too early.
With the strong statements from JDG, fans can rest assured that Sheer meets the age requirements for competing in the LPL. The fact that this player has not yet competed officially may be a deliberate choice by JDG to help Sheer gain more experience. Hopefully, with such careful nurturing, Sheer will make rapid progress and achieve success in the future.
