The teams competing in the VCS are sparking debate within the Vietnamese League of Legends community
As known, with Riot consolidating teams and creating the APAC region, several top teams from the VCS have transitioned to compete in the LCP (GAM, MVKE, TSW). This has led to significant changes in the VCS. Some teams have disbanded while new names have made their debut. Although familiar faces from previous VCS competitions remain, the performances of the younger players have left the Vietnamese League of Legends community feeling concerned.
For instance, recently, the Saigon MVK Academy (MVKA) faced off against Saigon Secret and emerged victorious. However, during the second game of the match, both teams’ performances were deemed to be “no different than ranked matches.” In fact, player Chika had a moment where he failed to pay attention while his teammate was engaging with the enemy jungler, instead opting to… clear minions and return home.
Specifically regarding Chika, he is regarded as one of the most promising mid-lane players in the VCS. He is one of the two players selected for training at DRX Academy and he even started competing earlier than LazyFeel. However, with his recent performances, Chika has yet to show the standout skills that were expected of him.
The VCS community cannot help but worry for the future of Vietnamese League of Legends
In the context of the LCP being almost entirely dominated by teams from the PCS, it is essential for the VCS to improve rapidly, but it seems the players are not able to meet the challenge. Among the three teams currently competing in the LCP, the most prominent and stable players are still those well-known names like Kiaya, Kati, Taki… Meanwhile, the new generation has yet to meet the required level of skill and experience.
And if the VCS does not have a successor generation, as veterans like Levi, Kati, or Kiaya are either in or approaching the twilight of their careers, Vietnamese League of Legends will face many difficulties in the future.
