With the rapid spread of Covid-19, this pandemic poses a global threat, and the best preventive measure, which seems simple but is incredibly difficult, is to stay home and avoid crowded places. One of the best ways to do this is to stay home and play games, which is why the World Health Organization (WHO) has launched the #PlayApartTogether initiative to promote “playing games to fight Covid-19.”
After being initiated by the WHO, this movement has been joined by a number of top gaming companies worldwide with billions of customers, such as Activision Blizzard, Riot Games, the YouTube Gaming streaming platform, and many mobile app developers. Notably, the CEO of Riot Games represented the company by sending strong and meaningful messages in the fight against the pandemic.

Riot Games has always been a leading company in charitable work for many years. As soon as Covid-19 showed signs of global spread, Riot Games allowed its employees to work from home early on.
Previously, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced a commendation for Riot Games – the company that donated 1.5 million USD (equivalent to over 35 billion VND) to nonprofit organizations and relief funds in California to support Covid-19 pandemic prevention efforts.
Among the 1.5 million USD donation, the two co-founders of Riot Games – Marc “Tryndamere” Merill and Brandon “Ryze” Beck contributed 500,000 USD each. The remaining funds were contributed by the Riot staff working at the headquarters in the United States. Subsequently, Riot donated an additional 3.5 million USD worth of medical supplies to charities worldwide. In total, Riot Games has donated 5 million USD (approximately 117.5 billion VND) for Covid-19 prevention efforts.
