In patch 10.9, Kayn received what can be said to be the most unreasonable power boost when the damage increase from his Q – Reaping Slash was also applied to minions in lane. Thus, a new trend named Top Lane Kayn emerged and proved to be extremely annoying at the current time as you can evolve into Rhaast at an incredible speed (since most top lane opponents are melee champions), without having to farm the jungle and being able to build Fighter items very early.

And just with such a “reckless” play, Kayn finally received his first nerf after 11 consecutive power boosts when this morning, Riot’s Mark Yetter – the project director of League of Legends – announced the “nerf list” in patch 10.10 with his name on it.

As soon as Riot Games announced this information, players from our country to international ones expressed extreme dissatisfaction with this change. The reason is quite clear as this champion has only just gained a little power, a somewhat stable playstyle, and an acceptable win rate, but just when Kayn was categorized as “viable” he got nerfed, while many other champions deserved to be nerfed more. For Kayn fans, this cannot be considered fair.

Is this really the first time Kayn has been nerfed?
I believe so, besides the bug fixes. Basically, there was a bug that caused damage-over-time effects like Corrupting Potion, Red Buff, and Challenging Smite to give Kayn more points to transform faster.

Based on some feedback I read, they will likely nerf the transformation speed, while that is actually what needs to be buffed.
It’s quite strange that Kayn is being nerfed while Graves, a stronger champion in both low and high ranks, escapes. But that’s right, this is Kayn’s first nerf.

Riot should stop making Lux a Support, let her become a strong champion in mid.
Hey, Support is a place for washed-up mages.
When will we see Aurelion Sol as a Support?
When he can hide in bushes.

While many may complain, the truth is that Kayn’s upcoming nerf is a positive sign for this champion. A champion gets nerfed only when it is too strong in some aspect, and for Kayn, a guy who has been buffed continuously yet still weak, Riot’s move shows that Kayn is a viable champion and not entirely forgotten as many believe.

Perhaps players should take advantage of the remaining time in patch 10.9 to climb ranks with the currently annoying and effective Top Lane Kayn.
