The issue of Godslayer being weak has existed for several seasons of League of Legends (LoL). However, by the 2023 season, this problem has become significantly more serious. Specifically, according to statistics from the specialized site LeagueofItems, Godslayer currently only has a pick rate of 1.37%, the lowest among the Marksman item group.

The main reason leading to this situation is that Godslayer no longer fits the general build path for Marksman champions. Currently, Marksman champions build in the order of Mythic items, Infinity Edge or Navori Quickblades, followed by items from Galeforce and armor penetration. The last item that Marksman players usually purchase is defensive gear.

With the build path above, Godslayer has almost no place in the item slots of most Marksmen. Even less popular items like Soul Reaver and Galeforce have stronger effects with their slow capabilities compared to Godslayer. Therefore, players believe that Riot should make Galeforce a build path item from Galeforce.
If this change were to happen, it would be an extremely accurate move. At the moment, the build path from Galeforce is not very diverse as Galeforce possesses overwhelming power. Meanwhile, Runaan’s Hurricane and Blade of the Ruined King are only used on a few specific champions. The introduction of Godslayer (if it happens) will make this item group more diverse.

Of course, the aforementioned changes are still just opinions from the League of Legends community. Whether these changes will be implemented or not still depends on the decisions from Riot Games. Essentially, whether Riot follows the community’s suggestions or takes a different approach, they still need to adjust Godslayer as soon as possible.
